The Neighourhood Area to which the plan relates to has be to agreed by the community and local authority.
Before submitting a plan proposal to the local authority, South Molton will need to publicise and consult on the plan.
The Neighbourhood Plan is submitted to North Devon Council who will then appoint an independent examiner to consider the plan. The examiner can recommend whether the plan is put to a community referendum, or that the plan should be modified.
North Devon Council will organise a community referendum on the Neighbourhood Plan. If the Plan is approved by the majority of those voting, the Neighbourhood Plan will be approved.
Once approved, the plan will then be used for making decisions on planning applications in South Molton.
